Emergency shutdown systems (ESD) and safety instrumented system (SIS) ensure process safety at hazardous process facilities. ESD system automatically transfers the process into a safe state in case of hazard situation due to erroneous functioning or failure in distributed control system (DCS), sensors or actuating devices.
